Privacy Policy

At LumenRay we take your privacy seriously. In short: the app runs 100% on your computer and never sends us your data, and this website uses minimal, cookieless analytics.

1. The LumenRay Search app

  • Runs locally: it indexes and searches within your files and your Outlook email on your own computer.
  • We collect nothing: the app does not send your files, your email or usage statistics (telemetry) to us or to third parties. You don't need to create any LumenRay Search account.
  • Encrypted index: the indexed content is protected with at-rest encryption on your disk.
  • Outlook access: to index your Exchange Online email, the app uses Microsoft sign-in. That authentication happens between you and Microsoft; we never receive your credentials or your email. The processing of your Microsoft account is governed by Microsoft's privacy policy.
  • As developers, we have no access to your files or your email.

2. The website (lumenray.app)

  • Hosting: the site and the installer are served through Cloudflare, which acts as our data processor and may process technical data (such as the IP address) to deliver the content and protect the service. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
  • Analytics: we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-friendly analytics that does not use cookies and does not track individuals. We only see aggregated data (page views, approximate country, referrer, device type). We do not build profiles, make automated decisions or run targeted advertising, and we do not identify you.
  • Cookies: the website does not set tracking cookies.
  • Third-party resources: the font is hosted on our own server; the icons are loaded from Cloudflare's CDN (cdnjs), which involves a standard request from your browser to that service.

3. Personal data we process

Through normal use of the app or the website you do not provide us with identifiable personal data. If you write to privacy@lumenray.app, we will process your address and message for the sole purpose of replying to you. Providing personal data is not mandatory: you can use the app and the website without giving us any personal data, with no consequences for not doing so.

4. Legal basis (GDPR)

  • Aggregated analytics and site security: legitimate interest. As it is cookieless, it does not require prior consent.
  • Replying to your messages: handling your request.

We do not rely on consent as a legal basis, so there is no consent to withdraw. If we ever introduce processing based on consent, you will be able to withdraw it at any time.

5. Your rights

As an EU user you have the right to access, rectify, erase, object to and restrict the processing of your data, as well as to data portability. To exercise them, write to privacy@lumenray.app. You may also lodge a complaint with the data protection authority in your country.

6. Retention

Aggregated analytics data is retained by Cloudflare according to its terms. Emails you send us are kept for as long as needed to handle your enquiry.

7. International transfers

Cloudflare operates a global network, so some technical data may be processed outside the European Economic Area. Such transfers rely on the safeguards provided for by the GDPR, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC).

8. Children

LumenRay Search is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will publish the new version on this page with its update date.
